AN EQUINE JOURNEY

Sierra Floyd is the owner of Crimson Moon Arabian Sporthorses LLC and has always had a passion for the Arabian horse. Sierra grew up on a small, Arabian breeding farm and began learning what the hard work, time, and dedication horse ownership was at a very, young age.

Sierra spent most of her college years building her relationship with Tahzares Sonn CM, or better known as ‘Ares’. Ares was born on her moms farm while she was going off to college for her B.S. in Toxicology at Ashland University. Shortly after she got used to being in college and living on her own, she brought Ares to a boarding barn near home. She spent their first two years together doing groundwork and building their relationship before having him broke out to ride.

After college, Sierra began renting a house that offered the ability to move Ares home - so they took up that oppurtunity and the responsibility of taking care of horses began again. With the ability to have horses at home, Sierra spent some time breaking and training horses with friends, which turned into buying and showing sale horses, and learning all the ins and outs of training and sales. During this time, she got to experience many different breeds of horses including: warmblood, friesian, quarter horse, appaloosa, haflinger, thoroughbred, and of course - the Arabian horse.

During the period of working with different breeds, Sierra’s passion for the Arabian horse was rekindled and grew with a little, chestnut mare named Luna (Typhoons Blood Moon) who came in as a consignment horse. Luna was supposed to be broke to ride, then sold - but that is only where the story begins. Luna was bought by Sierra after falling in love with Arabian horse all over again. The business of training and selling horses became emotionally exhausting and not very fufilling for Sierra so she decided to focus on her own personal goals for a few years with Luna and Ares.

Some time went by and a friend (Tabitha) of Sierra’s in 2022 asked if she would give riding lessons to her daughters (Lizzy and Harper) and Sierra accepted. Shortly after that, an old client (Amanda) reached out for her daughter (Anna) to begin taking lessons after seeing my posts on Facebook, which led to a referral from Amanda to Jess for another student (Maci). Over time, word of mouth was growing a small lesson program while Sierra was working full-time in pharmaceutical research. Sierra acquired TD Dreama Sweet Dream and RBA Tahzmin from her mom, suddenly she owned 4 Arabian horses. The passion for the Arabian horse was obvious, and impossible to ignore. Dreama began teaching students, Sierra’s students were attending horse shows, and the students began to feel a sense of belonging surrounded by the love of the Arabian horse.

In spring of 2024, Sierra began training students and horses full-time. The program that started by word of mouth grew to 22 students during the peak season in 2024. 5 of those students have purchased their own Arabian horses and will continue writing our story…
